William A. Ferretti, 91, a resident of St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge, passed away there Wednesday, April 7, 2021. He was born in Erie on July 31, 1929 son of the late Guerino and Inez Yezzi Ferretti.
Bill had a lifelong interest in aviation. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1949 and the Air Force Reserves until 1959. He attended air shows whenever he could and built balsa wood model airplanes in his retirement.
Bill was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and Gannon University.
He retired from Steris Corp., formerly the American Sterilizer Co. Bill was a member of Holy Rosary Church and was active in his Prep alumni group. For many years, he volunteered at Presque Isle State Park and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. He was also an avid golfer.
Bill had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Mildred T. Dombrowski Ferretti, and his brothers Robert Ferretti and Emmett Ferretti.
Survivors include his son William M. Ferretti and his wife Amy Greenlee of Baltimore MD, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Holy Rosary Church East 28th & East Ave. on Monday, April 12 2021 10am until 11am when a Funeral Mass will begin. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
