Robert R. Hendricks

Robert R. Hendricks, 79, of Erie, passed away Friday December 10, 2021 at Nightingale Nursing and Rehab Center.  

 

He was born in Columbus, Ohio May 30, 1942, son of the late George and Pauline Jones Hendricks

 

Bob  served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Independence Aircraft Carrier during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He  retired from the City of Erie Fire Department after 33 years of service.

 

He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club, Polish Falcons Nest 610 and Nest 123.  Bob enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary A.  Majczyk Hendricks,  a son Robert R. Hendricks, grandson Gregory John Hendricks, and his step-father Charles Winters.

 

Survivors include his daughters Michelle Pochatko (Roger Peters). and Christine Watkins and husband Charles, sons Gregory Hendricks and wife Renae and Jeffrey Hendricks and wife Karen,  brothers George Hendricks and wife Charlotte and Charles Winters, sisters Charlene Winters Wade and Beverly Roberts and husband Pete, 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews..

 

Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. on Wednesday December 15,  4pm to 7pm and may attend a service there Thursday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at at St. John the Baptist Church at 10am.

 

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with full military honers.
