Obituary

Margaret Krivonak, age 96 of Erie, PA passed away on Sunday February 26, 2023. 
She was born in Erie on December 17, 1926, the daughter of  Steve and Anna Orlovsky Krivonak.
Margaret was a 1945 graduate of Academy High School of which she helped organize class reunions for many years.  She completed the Secretarial Studies Associate Degree at The Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  She was an active member of SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church where she was the Choir Director for many years, member of the Church Baking Group, as well as other duties.  Margaret was the Erie Lodge Secretary of the GCU of the U.S.A.
She worked at General Electric Company for 35 years and after retiring she worked in the Erie School District substituting in various jobs.  She was a member of GEER Group(GE Exempt Retirees), GE Quarter Century, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Carpathian-Rusyn Society and the Siebenbuerger Club.  She volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary for more than 50 years, Gertrude A. Barber Center and Emergycare.
She loved to read and travel with friends and relatives and with the GEER Travel Group, made many trips to to Slovakia, her parent's homeland.  Enjoyed dancing, playing cards and bowling in the Church League and was considered by her family to be the Family Historian.
Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Krivonak Schubeck, Anna Krivonak Paykos and Vera Cole, two brothers, Nick (Virginia Winarski)  Krivonak and Steve (Mary Petrus Krivonak Salchak), a nephew Michael Cole and two nieces Elaine Schubeck Markley and Kathleen Krivonak O'Brien.
Margaret is survived by nieces Evelynne Krivonak Majernik, Kathleen Schubeck Annunziato (Tony), Stephanie Krivonak, Andrea Paykos Hein (Ron), Karen Krivonak Davis (Mark), Patricia Krivonak Carr (Paul), Melanie Paykos (Stephen Erikson-deceased), Christine Cole Niemi (Al) and Colleen Cole.  Two nephews Gregory Krivonak (Sandee) and Steven Cole (Jill).  Also many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. on Friday March 3, from 6PM to 8PM and also at SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Church 3415 Wallace St on Saturday March 4, from 10AM until the time of the Funeral Liturgy there at 11AM.
Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
