Leonard "Lenny" J. Wrobel
Erie - Leonard "Lenny" J. Wrobel, 78, of Erie, Pa. passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
He was born in Erie, Pa. on May 17, 1943.
Lenny graduated from Cathedral Prep and enlisted in the Air Force where he was a cryptographer that spoke fluent Russian. After leaving the service, he completed his bachelors at Gannon and master's (finance and mathematics) at St. Louis University. He became Erie's city controller in the 1970s and a financial planner for many years after. He was passionate about his Polish heritage. He was active in the Polish National Alliance, president and lifetime member of the Polish Falcons (Nest 123), and an organizer of many polka events. He also was a member of the National Bowling League.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Harriet Wrobel, and his brother, Norman Wrobel.
He is survived by his sister, Eileen Thomas of Cypress, Texas, his nieces, Denise Boyles, and Patricia Kownacki (and her husband, Tim), and great-nieces and a great-nephew.
An informal celebration of life was held on Tuesday, August 17th at Polish Falcons, Nest 123 (19th and Ash St.) from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
