Kathyleen Benes, 78, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, completed her earthly journey to join our Lord on September 18, 2021.
She was the daughter of late Pauline and Frank Benes Jr. Kathyleen had a zest for life and her contagious smile affected everyone around her. She was always there to lend a helping hand whether it was listen or any other way she could. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and loved to polka. A life-long member of Holy Trinity Church, she was a member of the choir and participated in many committees over the years and had a special place in her heart for Zabawa. For many years, she was the pierogi queen.
Kathyleen loved to decorate her home for all occasions and along with her sisters decorated Holy Trinity for all special events and holidays. Kathlyleen also loved her tractor and you could see her mowing the lawn in the summer and plowing when the snow came our way. It was important to keep family together, so holidays and picnics were held at her home. Everyone knew while growing up, the party was at Aunt Kathyleen's.
She always said her greatest gift was her son, Bill. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, William and his wife Sandi as well as her grandchildren, Zachary Landon, Sydney and Max Benes and great grandson, Zachary Landon Jr. Also, her sisters, Pauline Ellis, husband Willard, Frances Macrino, Georgia Benes, Elaine Renz, husband Dennis, Alice Koziel, husband Robert and Larraine Sarti, husband Joseph, and sister-in-law Billie Benes plus many nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Kathyleen was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Frank Benes III D.O.
Friends may call at Holy Trinity Church, 22nd & Reed Streets on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 10a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. The family requests that everyone attending please wear a mask.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Holy Trinity R.C. Church and Saint James Boy Scouts Troop 37.
