Joyce E. Hellenschmidt

Joyce E. (Livingston) Hellenschmidt, 95, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023.  Formerly of Corry, Pennsylvania. she was currently a resident of Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Erie Pennsylvania.
Born July 24, 1927 in Erie, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Robert H. and Alice E. Livingston, Sr.
Joyce was pre-deceased by siblings, Helen (Robert) Carpenter, Robert H. (Pat) Livingston, Jr., Phyllis (Stephen) Porvaznik, and Paul (Carol) Livingston.  She was also pre-deceased by her fur babies, Trixie and Jacquie.
She is survived by daughters Alice (aka Sam) of Newton, North Carolina and Patty of Corry, Pennsylvania.  Joyce is further survived by the light of her life, her grandson Jason, also of Corry, who shares the same birthday.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served from 1951 to 1953.  Formerly of Allegany, New York, she moved to Corry in 1977 for a position at the former Rogers Structural Steel Company.  After retiring from Rogers, she worked at Lifecare Center, and then retired a second time from her most recent employer, Walmart in Corry.
Many will remember Joyce as a talented seamstress.  She was a member of the Corry American Legion.  She enjoyed going to the casinos, playing bingo and scratch offs, as well as watching the Buffalo Bills.
Joyce's family wants to thank the staff of Soldiers' and Sailors' for their kindness and care shown to her.  A heartfelt thank you to Timmy for brightening her days, and for being there.
Friends may attend a graveside  funeral service with full military honors, at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Cemetery 560 East 3rd Street Erie, Pennsylvania on Monday March 6, 2023 at 1PM.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the local animal shelter, the Anna Shelter 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA, 16511.
