John Rippy Obituary

John P. “Jack” Rippy, 60, of the Pennsylvania Soldier’s and Sailors’ Home, Erie, PA and formerly of Johnsonburg, died Monday January 24, 2022 at the Home in Erie following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 27, 1961 in St. Marys, PA a son to the late Francis “Jude” and Rosemary Uhl Rippy.  Jack had lived most of his life in Johnsonburg and was a 1980 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School.

He had been a member of Holy Rosary Church, the American Legion and VFW all in Johnsonburg.

Jack was a Desert Storm Navy Vet serving at sea aboard the USS Independence CV-62 Aircraft Carrier as a Damage Controlman 3rd Class and served in the US Navy from July 1987 to July 1991. For his service, he received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Award, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal and National Defense Medal.

Jack is survived by his sisters and brother; Marilyn Rippy of Walnutport, PA, Francis “Frank” Rippy, Jr. of Johnsonburg, Mark Rippy of Pittsburgh and Mary Ann, Mrs. Randy Carbone of New Castle. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Michelle and Daniel Morcombe and Shannon, Mrs. Steve Neureiter and Scott Wright and many great-nieces and great-nephews,

He is predeceased by his parents.

 Private funeral services and Interment for John P. “Jack” Rippy were held at the Pennsylvania Soldier’s and Sailors’ Home, Erie, PA on Thursday January 27, 2022.

The Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. handled arrangements.

Due to COVID 19 conditions at this time, the family has chosen to have memorial services in Johnsonburg for John “Jack” Rippy, at a later date and time, and the service will be announced by the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Johnsonburg.
