Harry E. Mueller, Jr. 87 died peacefully on November 8, 2018. He was born in Erie on March 3, 1931, son of Harry E. and Beatrice (Martin) Mueller.
Harry graduated from Academy High School, attended Allegheny College, was awarded a Senatorial Rhodes Scholarship to study law at Oxford, England. Instead he enrolled and graduated from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years as an officer aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Furse in the Mediterranean.
His career in Real Estate Appraisals began with work on the I-79 corridor. His most interesting appraisal was the Strong Estate, the most challenging was that of Waldameer Amusement Park. He attained the appraisal designations, MAI, SRA.
Harry was a member of the Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge #36 of the F & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Erie, Erepa Grotto, Past Potentate of Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Past Chairman of the Board of Governors Shriners Hospital for Children Erie Unit, Past Chairman of Hamot Board of Corporators, Past President of Erie Rotary Club and Past President of the Pennsylvania Board of Realtors serving two terms.
Harry was an avid traveler, cruised on the QE2 on a trip around the world. Harry was a member of the California Century Club having traveled to 100 world countries along with extensive travel throughout all 50 states. He divided his time between winter and summer homes in Erie and Fort Lauderdale, Florida and seasonal residence in Forest County, Pennsylvania.
Surviving family include two daughters, Susan Mueller Arrowsmith of Evergreen, Colorado, Marjorie Mueller Bowles and husband Mark Bowles of Raleigh, two grandchildren, Harrison P. Bowles and Gillian O. Bowles of Raleigh, sister Marilyn Mueller Detzel, nephew Paul Detzel and niece Diane Detzel Tretter of Erie. He is preceded in death by his brother in law Robert Detzel and this nephew Mark Detzel.
No calling hours will be observed
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Harry's honor to the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home Welfare Fund. All donations go towards funding activities for the residents. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
