Walter Pius, 95,   passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday December 28, 2017.  He was born April 2, 1922 to Walter and Anna Nakoski Pius.  He graduated from Erie Central Tech in 1940.  Walter served in the Army Air Corp during WWII serving in England and France.  He worked at Penn Rubber for 23 years and retired from GE after 23 years.  Walter was a dedicated member of the Society of Holy Trinity Club, and an accomplished accordion player. He loved driving his 1968 Chevy Camero.  He was preceded in death by his brother Chester Pius and sisters Sophie Morris (John) and Cecelia Fiolek (Ben).  Survivors include  his wife of 62 years Janet Dearbeck Pius, their children Jay W. Pius (Vicki), Walter M. Pius (Cheryl), JoAnne Evanoff (Harry) and Scott A. Pius (Cecilia); 9 grandchildren: Gwen Lubowicki and Steven Pius, Jill and Kim Pius, Anastasia and Nick Evanoff and Monica, Derek, and Jude Pius, 1 great grandson Dylan Lubowicki, a sister-in-law Wanda Pius, and many nieces and nephews.  A special thank you to the Erie VA Hospital and Asera Care  Hospice. Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. Tuesday January 2, 2018 from 4pm to the time of a service there at 7pm.  Private burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.  Members of the Society of Holy Trinity Club will meet for a prayer service at the funeral home Tuesday at 5:30pm.  Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or to the Erie City Mission.  Please send condolences to www.slomskifuneralhome.com
