Virginia S. Benecki Koza Ropelewski
Virginia S. Benecki Koza Ropelewski, 93, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018. She was born in Erie PA on April 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Maciak Benecki
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vincent Koza in 1957; her sisters, Nellie Tecza, Louise Ellis, Ida Thomas, and Eleanor Fratus, and her brothers Henry and Joseph Benecki.
Virginia was a licensed beautician and operated her own beauty shop in Campbell, Ohio where she lived for 28 years. Returning to Erie, she worked at General Electric and, upon retirement, was a S.E.R.V.E.S volunteer at at Harding School. Virginia loved Christmas, and made crafts for both the St. Luke School and Harding School Santa Shops for many years.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Alois F. Ropelewski, her daughter, Patricia Zielewski, son-in-law Mooch Zielewski, and grandsons Matthew and David Zielewski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash Street, Erie, PA, 16503 on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 3:30 to 6:30p.m. A prayer service will immediately follow. In honor of Virginia's love for Christmas, please feel free to wear a holiday sweater. Private burial will be Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery.
