Teresa G. "Jakie" (Jakubowski) Wawrzyniak

Teresa G. "Jakie" Jakubowski Wawrzyniak, 90 of Erie died Thursday April 6, 2017 at St. Mary's Home of Erie East.  She was born in Erie on March 26, 1927, daughter of the late Max A. and Clara Brozozowski Jakubowski.  Teresa was a graduate of Saint Benedict Academy.  She was formerly employed at G.E., Barnie's Restaurant, Sticks and Cones, and volunteered at Holy Family School. She was an Auxiliary member of P.N.A., and a  member of the East Side Federation.  Teresa was also a member of the Democratic Women's Society  and was bestowed the honor of Democratic Woman of the Year.  She served as Committee Woman for the 1st District.  Teresa was a loving Mother, Busia, Bubbi, Great grandmother, Sister and Aunt.  She loved family picnics, shopping, and she cherished Sunday family get-togethers.  Her infectious laugh and her big hair will be remembered by all.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry J. "Hank" Wawrzyniak, son Gary A. Wawrzyniak, sisters Elaine Jakubowski and Maxine Fields, and brothers, George Jakubowski and Kenneth Jakubowski.  Survivors include her daughter Gail A. Blaszczyk and husband Thomas, sons, Glenn A. Wawrzyniak and wife Chiara, and Gregg A. Wawrzyniak and wife Yvonne, sister Norma Fialkowski and husband James, daughter-in-law Maria Wawrzyniak, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and former daughter-in-law Denise Wodarski.  Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. on Sunday 4pm to 8pm and may attend a service there Monday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Casimir Church at 10am.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Casimir Church or to Holy Family School.  Please send condolences to www.slomskifuneralhome.com
