Pauline (Ozimek) Dubowski

Pauline Ozimek Dubowski, 98 died peacefully on November 17, 2018 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home in Avon, Ohio, where she had resided for the past 6 years,  She was born in Uniontown, PA on January 27, 1920 daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Morawa) Ozimek.
She is survived by her son John P. Dubowski, Jr. and his wife Mary Lou of Waterford and daughter Marcia Fromknecht and husband William of Sheffield Village, Ohio, her four grandchildren Mary Goudy (Mark), Theresa Dayton (Terry), John P. Dubowski, III (Kristen), and Kurt Fromknecht (Petra), and seven great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers, Florian (Lawrence) Ozimek, and Peter Ozimek and his wife Patty, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Dubowski Sr. in 1963, and her sisters Victoria Olowin and Julia Zapolski.
During WWII, Pauline worked at GE making airplane parts for B25's and B29's.  Later enjoyed working at the Boston Store, then her and her husband owned a laundry dry cleaning business prior to building their 1950's ranch house and the motel in Waterford.
Pauline was the owner/operator of The Ranch Motel, Rt 19, Waterford for 22 years, from 1955 to 1977.  Throughout the winters she spent time in the West Palm Beach, Florida area with her sister and husband, Victoria and Edwin Olowin.
A former member of East Side Federation and Polish National Alliance (PNA), she enjoyed volunteering on committees for the Polonaise Ball and was instrumental in starting the Miss Polonaise Contest in 1966.
In her retirement, Pauline enjoyed learning Ballroom Dancing, and dancing for enjoyment to big band orchestras and Polka Bands, traveling to Florida and hosting house parties for her friends and family.
Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St on Friday from 4pm to 7pm and may attend a service at the funeral home on Saturday at 11am.
Private burial will be in St. Teresa Cemetery Union City, PA.
