Patricia "Pattie" Tofel Obituary

Patricia "Pattie" Lou Tofel, 67, of Erie passed away Wednesday September 5, 2018 at her home.  She was born in Erie on May 25, 1951 only child of the late Chester and Dorothy Luchin Tofel.  Pattie attended St. John the Baptist grade school and was a 1969 graduate of Technical Memorial High School.  She was employed by General Electric Co. for 40 years, retiring on October 1, 2009.  While employed, she belonged to UE Local 618 and served as steward and treasurer.  Pattie served as past Democratic committee woman and treasurer in the 5th Ward. She was the Voice (as the Polska D.J.) on the Polka Celebration Show for 20 years, member over 20 years of the East Side Federation of Polish American Societies serving as Vice President, Treasurer and on the Miss Polonaise Queen's contest committee.  She was also a life member of the Polish Falcons Nest 123, where she served as past director, and the Slovak National Club.  Also a member of the Society of Holy Trinity & Polish Falcons Nest 610-past director, and chair of Dyngus Day for the first 10 years.  She also served on the Awards Banquet committee and Co-chaired the Legion of Honor Circle since 2008.  Pattie was the first woman at Nest 610 to receive the highest honor, the Gold Legion of Honor Medal in 2011.  She enjoyed watching game shows, scratch off lottery tickets, Polish events, and avid fan of Elvis, country music, the Lawrence Welk Show and Dancing with the Stars.  In earlier years enjoyed bowling, going to craft shows, Polka dances, bingos and the casinos.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by God parents, Frank Godzwa anf Joan Nitter, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Survived by 5 Godsons, Timothy Burney of Erie, Robert Luchin Jr. of Parma, Ohio, Ronald Walker Jr., of Pittsburgh, PA, Steven Lunger of Erie and Justin Fallon of Erie, several cousins and close friends.  Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. on Sunday from 12noon until the time of services there at 3pm.  Private burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary's Home of Erie 607 East 26th St. Erie, PA 16504 or to Polish Falcons of America Scholarship Fund 381 Mansfield Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. or to the ANNA Shelter.  Please send condolences to www.slomskifuneralhome.com
