Edward "Edzui" John Peter Nitkiewicz Jr. 66, passed away Sunday January 21, 2018 at his home. He was born in Erie on December 27, 1951 son of the late Edward J. Sr. and Mary Benes Nitkiewicz. Edzui was graduate of Academy High School class of 1969. Before his retirement, he was employed at GAF, EPD Project Secure, Skinner Engine, Melissa's Deli, and was a bartender at the Pulaski and Society of Holy Trinity Clubs. He was an accomplished coach, having coached the Holy Trinity Girls grade school basketball team to an undefeated season, Diocesan Championship and N.W. PA Parochial Championship, and he also coached Vande Kamp Girls softball team to a championship. He was a very active member of Holy Trinity Church where served as an Usher, and did building and grounds maintenance, belonged to the former Holy Name Society, Zabawa Volunteer, and was a member of the Society of Holy Trinity Club where where he served on the Board of Trustees. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, shooting pool, playing cards, R & R poolside, and golf. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed 4th of July celebrations. He played softball for the End Zone Tavern as a pitcher, and also played for D'Albora Builders. He was preceded in death by a sister Eileen Donikowski. Survivors include his wife Susan Hlopick Nitkiewicz, daughter Tracy Marie Thomas Nitkiewicz (Shawn Nunemaker), sons, Edward John Nitkiewicz III, Andrew Edward Nitkiewicz (Chelsea Marie), and Adam James Nitkiewicz, grandchildren Donald Wayne Barnes IV, Thomas James Boarts III, Jake Andrew Boarts, Pete Edward Boarts, Jenna Renee Nitkiewicz, great grandson Kacen Barnes, sister Charlotte Allen (Clair), brother Daniel Nitkiewicz (Barb "Bunny"), special cousins, Thomas Kranz (Jill), and Mark Nitkiewicz, best buddies, Ken Brasington (Irene), Louie D'Albora (Anne), Carey Rozanski (Linda), and Nick Sturdivant (Julia), bonus sons, Steven Betcher and Jeremy Corey, and many nieces and nephews. Heartfelt loving thanks to our niece Bethany Hlopick-Hilt RN for her loving support and knowledge at Cleveland Clinic. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Church East 22nd & Reed St. Saturday 11:30am to the time of the Funeral Mass there at 1pm. Memorials may be made to the family for Ed's medical bills. The Carl A.
