Dorothy H. (Mizikowski) Pytlarz

Dorothy Helen Mizikowski Pytlarz, 93, of Erie PA, joined her beloved husband Harry in Heaven on October 26, 2017.  She was born on October 13, 1924, and raised in Erie PA, the daughter of Anthony and Helen Mankowski Mizikowski on East 25th Street. She was preceded in death by husband, her sister Sophia Szymanowicz and her brothers, Edward, Bernard, Joseph, Stephen, Paul, Stanley and Frank.  She met the love of her life and future husband, Harry Peter Pytlarz at a local dance and they married on May 8, 1948.  They had three children, a daughter Cynthia deceased, and two sons, Don (Patricia) and Terry (Janice) Pytlarz, both of Erie. Dorothy is survived additionally by two Granddaughters, Holly Parker (James) and Christy Benacci (Capt. Stephen, USA) of Iowa, two Grandsons, Ian Pytlarz (Natalya) of Indiana and Alex Pytlarz (Laura) of California,, a Great Grandson, Zachary Douglass and Great Granddaughters Summer Benacci and Gabrielle Parker.  She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.  Dorothy loved many things in life, her husband and best friend Harry, her family, her dear friends, Polish heritage, and Polka dancing with Dad.  She was an avid bowler and gardener for many years.  Dottie was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity RC Church where she cherished her years as a member in the church choir.  She also belonged to St. Mark's Ladies Auxiliary, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the Rosary Society of Holy Trinity, and was a former director and member of Group 469 St. Catherine Polish Women's Alliance.  Over the years Dorothy worked at the Williams Dental Laboratory, Erie Talon, Erie Resistor and Erie Service Bureau.  She retired from the General Telephone Company, where she had many friends.  Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff of Independence Court who cared for her over the last few years, and the staff of AseraCare Hospice Erie.  In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to her beloved Holy Trinity R.C. Church.  Calling hours will be at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home 2101 Ash Street, Erie PA on Sunday October 29th from 4PM to 8PM.  A final viewing will take place prior to the Funeral Mass at the back of the church at 9AM on Monday October 30th  at Holy Trinity R.C. Church  to the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10AM, 2220 Reed Steet, Erie, PA.  Dorothy will be buried with her husband, Harry at Calvary Cemetery.
